Project Overview
Control Service Company worked with Evangel University to deliver a campus-wide building automation approach that brings multiple HVAC systems under a single, easy-to-use platform. The most recent project—the Valor Center, Evangel’s new athletics complex—includes a state-of-the-art basketball and volleyball arena, stadium seating, press areas, weightlifting facilities, locker rooms, coaches’ offices, and academic support spaces. The building consolidates the entire athletics department under one roof, requiring a control solution capable of managing diverse environments efficiently and intuitively.
CSC worked with Gold Mechanical, supporting the owner’s long-term plan to standardize HVAC controls across campus and create a unified system that supports visibility, reliability, and ease of use for the facilities team.
The Solution
The Valor Center required integration of two major equipment types:
• LG VRF systems conditioning the majority of offices, training areas, and smaller spaces
• AAON rooftop units and DOAS (Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems) serving larger zones such as the arena floor, entry areas, and main gathering spaces
CSC deployed Automated Logic WebCTRL, enabling Evangel to monitor and manage both equipment families from one centralized interface. The AAON equipment is operated through full control and BACnet MS/TP integration, while the LG VRF system is integrated via BACnet over IP across the university’s IT network. This hybrid integration gives Evangel’s facility staff total visibility without requiring them to toggle between different vendor systems.
Evangel also uses CSC-installed power monitoring on each building, allowing facilities leadership to track electrical usage and generate ongoing reporting across campus—a standard CSC delivers on every project for the university.
Project Challenges
As a new construction project, the primary challenge was timing. Critical spaces—particularly the gymnasium—required precise temperature and humidity control long before the building was fully ready for commissioning. Gymnasium flooring, for example, requires that conditions fall within exact tolerances.
CSC ensured equipment could be safely brought online even when:
• Network connectivity was not yet established
• Portions of the building lacked permanent power
• Walls and finishes were incomplete, limiting when wiring could be installed
Through proactive planning and temporary configuration strategies, CSC kept the project moving without sacrificing long-term system integrity.

Automated Logic WebCTRL was selected for its ability to:
• Bring multiple equipment types onto a single user interface
• Provide technicians and facility staff real-time access to the same powerful tools
• Display programming transparently for advanced customers
• Scale easily as Evangel expands or renovates buildings across campus
For Evangel, WebCTRL has become the preferred front end because it is intuitive, open in structure, and capable of integrating legacy equipment through standardized protocols like BACnet.
