Every March, Women in Construction Week shines a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible women who are shaping the built environment. At Control Service Company (CSC), we take this opportunity to celebrate the skilled professionals who are helping us build a more innovative and inclusive future—one system at a time.
Construction, Architecture, Engineering, and building industries have long been male-dominated, but that narrative is changing. Every year, more women are entering the trades, leading projects, managing critical infrastructure, and bringing fresh perspectives to field work and technology. Women in Construction Week is more than a recognition—it’s a reminder of the talent, expertise, and leadership that women bring to our teams and our industry.
The Women of CSC
This week we honored the women of CSC with a lunch at a nearby steakhouse and listened to their stories and experiences. Here are some of their stories and experiences as women in construction and at Control Service Company.
🔹 Maria (Sales)
“I have an engineering background, but knew I wanted a career that let me interact with people and not be tied down to a desk every day. Working at CSC gives me the opportunity to collaborate with coworkers, customers, and fellow contractors daily to get things done. Building credibility can be tough as a woman in a male-dominated field.
I’ve tried my best to be authentic, and have found the construction industry to be more welcoming than I would have expected. Work/life balance is so important to me, especially as a mom of two young kids. There’s always a give-and-take between saying yes to every career opportunity and being there for every field trip, but I’ve found a balance that works for this stage of life. I’m so grateful to CSC for allowing the flexibility I need.
I hope to see more women entering the construction industry! There’s a huge variety of construction-related roles that women often aren’t exposed to as we’re deciding on our careers. I hope girls and young women get more exposure to the possibilities of a career in construction early on.”
🔹 Holly (Parts)
“I love the variety of my job—one minute I’m checking in mail, the next I’m pulling parts or staging jobs. I’m always moving, and on good days, I even get to enjoy the weather!”
🔹 Tisha (Service)
“After working as a Startup Tech in the field, I love my new role in Tech Support. No more freezing in winter or sweating in summer—now I use my skills to troubleshoot and guide customers in maintaining their Building Automation Systems.”
🔹 Jennifer (Human Resources)
“I’ve been at CSC for just over 5 months, and it is quickly becoming my favorite position ever! The employees are wonderful, and everyone goes out of their way to help each other. The company truly cares about its employees by covering benefits for both employees and their families, and even contributing to our HSAs to help offset deductibles.”
🔹 Diana (Finance)
“One of the first things I noticed when I first started working here was how pleasant everyone was. I received so many genuine ‘Hello,’ ‘How are you,’ and ‘Have a great day’ greetings. At my previous jobs, I never experienced that level of friendliness from anyone other than my immediate co-workers. Here, people go out of their way to acknowledge you, which is so important to me.”
Why Representation Matters
Visibility matters. When young women see professionals who look like them thriving in skilled trades and technology-focused roles, it opens doors to new possibilities. We believe that a diverse, inclusive industry isn’t just the right thing—it’s the smart thing. Diverse teams solve problems more creatively, build stronger relationships, and deliver better outcomes for clients.
That’s why CSC supports professional development, encourages mentorship, and works to create a workplace where everyone—regardless of gender—can thrive.
As we honor Women in Construction Week, we also look forward, the industry is evolving rapidly. Building automation, energy efficiency, and smart technology are at the forefront of that transformation. Women are helping lead the way. The future of construction is connected, data-driven, and inclusive. And it’s being built by a workforce that reflects the world we live in.
To all the women on our team—and to the many more paving the way across the industry—thank you. Your work, your leadership, and your passion don’t just build buildings. You build possibilities.
