AdventHealth Shawnee Tower 2 Renovation Receives Vista Award

The American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) has announced the winners of the 2025 Vista Awards, recognizing outstanding innovation and collaboration in health care design and construction. Tower 2 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Merriam, Kansas, won the 2025 Vista Award for Renovation. Originally constructed in 1972, Tower 2 is the oldest building on the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission campus. The renovation project, led by h|d Architecture and McCarthy Building Companies, updated the facility’s interior and exterior, including replacing and enlarging 220 exterior windows and resealing the building envelope

The team successfully completed a phased approach to renovating 144 patient rooms on levels two through five, allowing the hospital to maintain patient occupancy on one half of each floor while the other half underwent construction. Critical building infrastructure systems, including mechanical, electrical, and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, were revamped to meet current code requirements
Control Service Company was an integral part of the Tower 2 renovation at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, providing the HVAC and building controls system. This collaboration highlights CSC’s dedication to enhancing community health and wellbeing through advanced technology and reliable service. Together, CSC and AdventHealth are making a positive impact on patient care and the overall healthcare experience in the community.
