Sustainability efforts in Johnson County are paying off thanks to CSC

Johnson County, Kansas highlights its green initiatives, saving over $3 million in energy costs since 2015. A key project in these energy savings was building the new Johnson County Courthouse, completed in 2021. Control Service Company (CSC) implemented Automated Logic’s HVAC products and WebCTRL dashboard, integrating new chillers, boilers, air handling units, and Crestron lighting controls. Despite a brief pause in building due to COVID-19, CSC finished on-time and on-budget, demonstrating our expertise and project management.

With Automated Logic’s intuitive WebCTRL platform for managing HVAC and lighting, enhancing energy efficiency and operational performance, Johnson County is set to complete its broader sustainability goals, including retrofitting older buildings and designing new ones with energy efficiency in mind. Tony Barron, Director of Facilities Management, emphasizes the importance of these initiatives for reallocating savings back into the government budget.

Johnson County’s efforts support the 2021 Kansas City Climate Action Plan, aiming for net-zero pollution by 2050. By optimizing resource use and reducing waste, the county sets a standard for sustainable practices. The courthouse project, in collaboration with CSC, paves the way for a greener future and demonstrating that sustainability benefits both the environment and the community.
