Children’s Mercy Kansas City Announces $152 Million Expansion Plan for Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas
Children’s Mercy Kansas City has announced a $152 million expansion plan for Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas (CMHK) to enhance patient care and access to services. This project includes the renovation of surgical spaces, the addition of new pre-op, post-op, and procedural areas, and the construction of a state-of-the-art Medical Office Building (MOB) to consolidate outpatient services. The first phase, focusing on surgical services, is already underway and expected to be completed by summer 2026.
Further phases will include hospital renovations, new service offerings such as Inpatient Rehab and Intensive Outpatient Programs, and the creation of a Neuroscience Center of Excellence. These upgrades aim to improve the overall patient and staff experience, with completion expected by summer 2029. Additionally, modern parking structures and exterior improvements will facilitate better wayfinding and accessibility.
The expansion reflects Children’s Mercy’s commitment to providing top-quality, accessible healthcare to the growing pediatric population. Philanthropic gifts will support this initiative, bringing expert care closer to home for children and families in the region.
